Celia Oosterhoff

Celia is an Accredited Specialist in Family Lawyer, having practised exclusively in Family Law since 2006 with both mid-sized suburban and city boutique family law practices.

Celia has extensive experience in all aspects of Family Law including complex parenting, property, and child support. She has experience dealing with complex financial issues, advising in relation to business interests, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds as well as matters with international components such as offshore property, forum disputes and international child abduction, as well as smaller “house and garden” type financial matters.

Celia aims to assist her clients to reach negotiated settlements where possible. She also encourages her clients to use alternative dispute resolution, working with her clients to achieve optimum results, without further damaging fragile family relationships. However, where necessary, Celia is an experienced litigator and advocate, and will work hard to ensure, if her clients require court representation, that they achieve the best outcomes.

Celia completed her legal studies at the University of NSW in 2000 and also has a Masters in Applied Law in Family Law. She is a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, able to issue s60I Certificates in relation to parenting disputes. Celia is a member of the Legal Aid Independent Children’s Lawyers panel, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, Resolution Institute and is a Graduate Fellow of the College of Law.

As one of our Family Law Lawyers, Louise has extensive experience in litigation matters, initially in insurance and commercial related matters, and then in Family Law. Her background in litigation has allowed her to develop excellent negotiation skills and this, combined with her strong communications skills and ability to resolve and address conflicts, ensures that she works to achieve positive outcomes for her Family Law clients. Louise is an experienced advocate who has appeared in the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court in respect to Family Law matters involving parenting, property, relocation, child support, spouse maintenance and de facto property matters. In recent years, Louise has worked with other Senior Lawyers and Academics to develop and draft submissions to the NSW Government and publish articles which draw attention to the issues surrounding Family Law and Domestic Violence. She has also been involved as a coach and Magistrate for the Law Society of NSW Mock Trial Programme and the University of Notre Dame Australia, Law School, Mentoring Programme. Louise is a member of the Law Society of NSW, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the St Thomas Moore Society.
