“ I love you but I’m no longer in love with you”. There are many confused and distressed people searching for answers as to how to turn their marriages around after their partners have finally found the courage to make this confession. It is unfortunately, once the relationship has come to this point, there is often little that can be done.
Relationships take work and it frequently happens that as couples move through life they fail to nurture that love that once they had. As the everyday, mundane tasks take over the couple plod along, not realizing that the relationship is dying. Then the day comes when it dawns on one of them that marriage has reached an end. Sometimes when the words are out, the partner on the receiving end realizes that they have known for some time that the relationship had lost its shine. At other times it comes as a shock as they have been oblivious to the feelings of their partner.
In confessing that he or she is no longer in love, your partner is telling you that the spark that brought you together has gone, that the sexual attraction that once had been so strong has vacated the house. The wish to spend time together and to share intimate moments is no longer there. He or she is telling you that they no longer take great pleasure in your company.
It is really difficult to see partnerships once strong and loving fall apart not because of any selfish actions on the part of either of the partners but as a result of neglect, where one or both simply failed to pay attention to the needs of the other.
This is a difficult time even for the partner who has come to the conclusion that there is no longer any physical desire. They frequently also wish that they could restore the emotional and physical bond that once existed. Men who have woken up to the realization may well hope to remain in a friendly relationship with their wives, but for most women, this is simply not possible.
Don’t let your relationship founder due to neglect. Spend some valuable time together and talk before its too late.
