Parents may struggle from reduced resources as a result of divorce

The Australia Institution of Family members finds that females experience more difficulties in recuperating financially as they need to balance work and child obligations. Women without children usually recover after six years. Unlike women, men suffer more in terms of their well-being than economic matters.

A divorce is a common option for people, who after the fall of marriage, no longer want to continue life being together. There are many aspects why couples would seek a divorce. Most of the common aspects include problems with interaction, unfaithfulness, bad habits of the spouse, and inevitable external demands. When the couples, or both files for a divorce before the court, they need to validate that their marriage is broken down irretrievably for the divorce to be so provided.

Under the Family Law Act, the husband and wife must have lived individually for at least 12 months in order to validate that there is no reasonable likelihood of living back together. If the couples have children who are less than 18 years old, couples may only obtain a divorce if there were proper arrangements made for the kids.

The divorce process can cost a lot of money. Hence, it is very important for spouses who are planning to obtain a divorce, or for one partner who plans to file a divorce against the other partner to consult a lawyer before pursuing the case. Couples engaged in divorce cases would usually start to pay from the moment they apply for consent orders to the notice of appeal to the Full Court. Costs for divorce may also change depending on the money needed to pay for the lawyer, number of appearances before the court or hearing days, and the length of time until the divorce is given a final decision.

The costliness of divorce may not only impact the parties involved therein but may also affect the entire family as a whole, especially if the spouses have kids in common. Partners may share for the cost of divorce proceeding if they have filed the case together. If only one partner files for a divorce and the other partner is a respondent, each of them is individually responsible for their own legal fees.
